  • In a large dish, pour in milk, which you can substitute with almond milk, and add in butter, or vegan butter. Microwave the mixture to 100 degrees Fahrenheit so that it is warm enough.

  • Mix the yeast mixture and the warm milk mixture. Gradually add all-purpose flour, one cup at a time. You can either use a stand mixer or you can mix the dough by hand. Stop adding flour once the dough is moderately soft and sticky.
Cover up the dough bowl with a wet cloth and let it rest for about some time so that the dough can rise. This can take from an hour and a half to two hours.

  • Next up, pour a little flour on the rolling surface and on the rolling pin. Take out the dough and roll it evenly out in a shape of a rectangle so that it’s 24 inches in length and 12 inches in width.
The dough should be super thin at this point. Don’t worry because it will rise for the second time to become fluffy and soft.
Take room temperature butter and spread it evenly out on the dough. You can use a spatula for this purpose. To prepare the filling, mix dark brown sugar with cinnamon spice and sprinkle the mixture all over the dough so that no spot is left.

  • Roll up the dough from the bottom to up tightly. The tightness will maintain the shape of the cinnamon rolls. Now use a ruler, a knife, or even a floss to cut this dough into cinnamon rolls. Make sure you cut 2 inches of 12 cinnamon rolls to make them as big as Cinnabon Rolls that you get from malls.
Rolling the Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls dough
  • Put these Cinnabon Rolls in a pan that has been greased. Place these rolls at an adequate distance from each other because once the dough rises these are going to be huge in size and you don’t want to overcrowd them.
Place a wet towel or aluminum foil over it and let it rest for 45 minutes.

  • Now check on the Cinnamon rolls. If they have become fluffy and soft with second rise, now it’s time to bake them.
Baking the Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls in oven
  • Place the Cinnabon rolls pan in an oven that has been preheated to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for about 20 minutes until the rolls become light brown. After 20 minutes of baking, carefully take the Cinnabon cinnamon rolls out of the oven and let them cool down slightly.
They should still be warm though so that once you apply the icing, it would instantly melt and drip down the delicious big Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls.
Be generous while applying the cream cheese frosting because you don’t want it to be too heavy. And that’s it. Enjoy yourselves homemade Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls that look like you just got them from a mall.

Expert Tips

  1. We recommend making the dough a day prior to the baking and keeping it in the fridge until the first rising.
  2. Only bake the rolls until they are light brown with a golden touch, not dark brown because that will taste as if they have been overbaked.
  3. Use vanilla extract in the cream cheese frosting for the best flavor.
  4. Use room temperature, softened butter on the dough so that it can spread out easily.
  5. The key to having the best Cinnabon Cinnamon rolls is doing everything while they are warm. Apply the cream cheese frosting over the rolls right out of the oven so that it melts properly.
